Job summary

Primer is a remote-first payments platform empowering finance teams to simplify and scale global payments. We’re seeking a pre-sales Solutions Engineer to work closely with the sales team, translating merchant needs into technical solutions and guiding end-to-end integrations for large merchants.

You’ll translate business requirements into actionable technical designs, lead discovery sessions, product demos, and Q&A with developers.

Qualifications

• Prior merchant-facing experience with a complex API product, ideally in payments.
• Comfortable implementing frontend SDKs in web or mobile and advising developers on integration best practices.
• Confident leading discovery sessions, joining presentations at C-level, and working with technical counterparts.
• Strong technical curiosity to understand, explain, and design complex technical solutions.
• Project management skills; able to lead integrations involving multiple teams and dependencies.
• Creative and adaptable; you’ll work with diverse merchants and shifting timelines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach with clients, partners, and internal teams.
• Motivated to grow with Primer in a fast-paced scaling environment.

What will you be doing?

• Working closely with our growing sales team to identify merchant pain points and consulting with those merchants on the value of Primer to address them
• Providing technical expertise to the sales team to partner with them in business development
• Translating business requirements into technical solutions, and translating complex technical concepts into simple language
• Driving forward client engagements via discovery sessions, solution design workshops, product demos, developer Q&A, and more
• Guiding merchants from initial conversations in pre-sales through to successful go-live and ramp-up, ensuring a smooth end-to-end integration process
• Acting as a project owner during complex merchant integrations, aligning internal and external stakeholders, creating implementation plans, and mitigating risks proactively
• Collaborating with our Product team, using your market learning to identify feature enhancements and new features to better serve our merchants

What we’d love to see?

• Previous experience in a merchant-facing role with a complex API product, ideally in payments
• Comfortable implementing frontend SDKs in web or mobile environments and advising developers on integration best practices
• Confidence and ease in leading discovery sessions, joining presentations at C-level, and working with technical counterparts at some of the largest merchants
• Deep interest or knowledge about tech, understanding, explaining, and designing complex technical solutions is second nature to you
• Project management skills, you’re organised, proactive, and can lead integrations involving multiple teams and dependencies
• Creativity and improvisational skills, rarely are two merchants alike, and you don’t always have days to prepare
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, you make the complicated sound simple and interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A collaborative approach, you work well with clients, partners, and internal teams (Product, Engineering, Sales)
• Drive and motivation, we’re growing fast and want you to grow with us!
• Experience working in a fast-paced and scaling environment
