Job Summary:

Conceptualizes the overall design documents that ensure consistency in development across the Technology organization. Participates in and contributes to the definition of systems and/or software architecture to ensure that the Technology organization's solutions are built within a consistent framework and aligned to strategy. Implements activities that generally impact multiple components / processes and the work of own and possibly other teams. Assigned complex undertakings that regularly require the application of independent judgment. Receives work in short– and mid- term outcomes and operates within the context of approved methods.

Job Responsibility:

• Conceptualizes the overall design documents that ensure consistency in development across the Technology organization. Participates in the definition of technical architecture to ensure that the Technology organization's solutions are built within a consistent framework.
• Designs and defines system architecture and solutions for integrating multiple platforms, operating systems, cloud and applications. Participates in the decision-making processes related to the selection of architecture solutions.
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Serves as a technical and business-savvy resource to engineering on a range of software design issues.
• Implements and improves core systems and/or software infrastructure. Participates in improving software development lifecycle, technical operations and technology innovation.
• Participates in developing technical / business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools.
• Shares complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions. .
• Effectively resolves problems and roadblocks as they occur.
• May perform systems and applications performance characterization and trade-off studies through analysis and simulation.
• Leads the daily work of assigned work group / team. Recommends modifications to the daily operations of the assigned work group / team. Makes needed adjustments to short-term priorities.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role OR High school / GED and at least 7 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role
• At least 3 years of leadership experience in server side or client side technologies
• Experience in domain-specific architecture concepts and emerging technologies. (Design patterns, frameworks, current Java based solutions, mobile, OR Infrastructure Administration OR Data Sciences)
• Experience creating and promoting guiding development principles and influencing development teams, business users and management in adoption of technical solutions.
• At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
• Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in database administration, database architecture, or enterprise data platforms
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise-scale Oracle database environments across development, testing, staging, and production platforms.
• Proven experience with enterprise IT architecture, including high availability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, scalability planning, backup/recovery strategies, and operational resiliency.
• Strong background in database lifecycle management, including database design, deployment automation, patching, upgrades, migrations, monitoring, and operational support.
• Demonstrated expertise in performance tuning and proactive database health assessment, including analysis of AWR/ASH reports, SQL optimization, wait event analysis, capacity planning, and operational trend analysis.
• Experience collaborating across infrastructure, application, cloud, and support teams to establish operational standards, best practices, and support models for mission‑critical database platforms.
• Ability to build consensus and effectively lead technical discussions across multiple engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts, operational risks, and architectural recommendations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Advanced technical expertise in Oracle database technologies, SQL performance optimization, database security, and business intelligence/data platform technologies, including exposure to Azure cloud services and hybrid database architectures.
• Experience supporting highly available database solutions including RAC, Data Guard, replication technologies, and cloud‑based database services.
• Working knowledge of ITIL framework principles, including incident management, change management, problem management, operational governance, and service delivery best practices.
• Experience developing operational documentation, runbooks, standards, and support procedures for 24x7 enterprise database operations.
