We’re looking for someone who can walk into an ambiguous client conversation about AI and walk out with a funded project — and then go build it.
Two things define this job. You are excellent at pre-sales: finding the opportunity, framing it in terms a client will pay for. You are able to scope the work honestly and have the ability to deliver the work you sold at a senior technical level on those engagements.
Our Azure work today spans cloud infrastructure, application modernization, and data, and we do it well. What we need now is someone who can integrate that and lead the holistic AI conversation — Azure OpenAI, agentic patterns, grounding on client data, and the governance questions that come with it. That work is the growth in front of us, and much of it is still ground you’ll be learning as you go. We’re hiring you for what you already know. We’re betting on what you’re willing to go learn. If that second part doesn’t appeal, this is the wrong seat.
What you’ll do
Generate and shape demand
- Partner with the sales team as the technical counterpart on target accounts and new opportunities — joining discovery calls, whiteboard sessions, and executive conversations, not just reviewing decks after the fact.
- Identify opportunities inside existing accounts that the account team can’t see, and articulate them in business terms the client will fund.
- Treat an undefined call as your opportunity to find one. If an AE puts you in front of a client, that access is the lead — uncovering what’s actually there is your job, not solely theirs.
- Lead strategy, discovery, and assessment workshops that turn a vague AI ambition into a funded roadmap. Done well, this is the first paid step into a much larger program.
- Stay in the account after the SOW is signed and build a trusted relationship with the client. Expansion comes from being present when the next problem surfaces, not from a check-in at renewal.
- Own technical scoping: assumptions, estimate, phasing, risk, and the shape of the statement of work. Your scopes should be ones you’d be willing and able to deliver yourself
- Serve as the technical escalation point for pre-sales objections and competitive positioning.
- Help CloudServus build credibility in the market — examples of activities may include customer briefings, webinars, reference architectures, Microsoft partner ecosystem relationships and specializations, and content that makes prospects call us first.
Deliver
- Act as a senior technical resource on our most complex engagements — architecture, design authority, and hands‑on build work.
- Lead AI and data engagements end to end: solution design, grounding and data access, security and governance, evaluation, and the path from pilot to production.
- Set the delivery standard: documentation, reusable IP, quality bar, and what "done" means on an engagement.
- Take the small things too. Nothing here is beneath the role — writing the runbook, cleaning up the tenant, sitting on the bridge at 11 p.m., fixing the diagram before it goes to the client.
- Recover troubled engagements when they need a senior technical presence.
Raise the level around you
- Bring the rest of the team along as you go — design reviews, pairing on the hard parts, and making your patterns reusable rather than personal.
- Help us decide what to sell next. You’ll see the demand before anyone else does, and we want your read on what we should build, productize, or stop offering.
Where the lines are
- Project management. The PM owns scope, schedule, budget, and client communication. That doesn’t let you off the hook — stay aware of all of it, and help carry it when the engagement needs it. We are a collaborative team.
- Support queue. Managed services has its own escalation path. You’re the last stop on hard problems, not the first stop on all of them.
- Deal administration. You help define and shape the technical story, the scope, and the estimate. The AE owns the quota, the CRM, and the commercial process.
- People management. You won’t have direct reports, and you won’t own staffing or the bench. Your influence comes from what you build and from people wanting to work alongside it. That being said, we are a fast-growing team, and having the desire to move into a “Lead” role is what we are looking for.
What we’re looking for
Required
- 8+ years in consulting, MSP, or enterprise IT, with meaningful time client-facing and senior.
- Demonstrated excellence in pre-sales: opportunities you personally found, scopes you wrote, deals that closed because you were in the room. This is not a nice-to-have — it is a key component of the role.
- Real delivery experience with AI solutions on Azure. Not demos — something that reached production with your name on it.
- Deep expertise in AI, data, or both, and enough working knowledge of the rest of the Azure landscape below to hold an architecture conversation and know when to bring in help.
- Strong command of Azure fundamentals regardless of the path you came in on — networking, identity and Entra ID, governance, security, IaC, and cost management. In cloud consulting, these aren’t an infrastructure specialty; they’re the ground that everything else stands on.
- A solid understanding and point of view on where AI consulting is heading, and the willingness to argue for it with people who disagree.
- Deliberate movement toward newer workloads over the past few years — evidence you went there on purpose, not just where projects happened to take you.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including with executive audiences.
- Ability to work effectively remotely — self-directed, visible to the team, and present with clients without needing a room to do it. Occasional travel for client engagements, partner events, and team meetings.
Preferred
- Microsoft expert-level certification (AZ-305, AZ-400, SC-100, or equivalent), or associate-level certifications in AI, data and analytics, or Power Platform.
- Experience in a Microsoft partner environment, particularly one carrying multiple solution partner designations.
- Experience defining and launching a service offering from scratch.
- Evidence that people have gotten better at their jobs working alongside you.
- Background across both mid-market and enterprise clients.
- Live in Texas, South Carolina, California, Minnesota, Idaho, Colorado, or Illinois
The landscape you’d be working in
This is the ground the practice covers. It’s a map, not a checklist — AI and data are where we need you most.
- AI — Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, generative AI and machine learning, RAG, agentic patterns, and Copilot extensibility.
- Data and analytics — Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, Purview, and lakehouse or medallion patterns.
- Application development and modernization — App Service, Container Apps, AKS, Azure Functions, API Management, Logic Apps, .NET, Microsoft Graph, and CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Cloud platform — landing zones, networking, Entra ID, governance, IaC (Bicep or Terraform), AKS, Azure Arc, security, and cost management.
How we’ll know it’s working
- Pipeline is sourced or materially shaped by you, and the win rate on it is evident.
- Whether the work you scoped delivers to that estimate — you own both the number and the follow-through that makes it hold.
- Client outcomes and repeat business on engagements you led.
- Tracked revenue from AI and data engagements, growing year over year.
