Job summary

Redwood Materials seeks a Senior or Staff Solar PV Project Engineer in San Francisco, CA to own the PV scope from concept through commissioning for utility-scale solar-plus-storage projects. You’ll produce single-line diagrams and layouts, define the Basis of Design, and coordinate with EPC partners and internal teams.

The role requires deep PV expertise, proficiency with PVcase, and readiness to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil or Electrical) or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience with concept development, design, and construction of utility-scale solar PV.
• Proficiency with PVcase for single line diagrams and layouts.
• Working knowledge of solar-plus-storage architectures.
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, UL standards and interconnection requirements.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own solar PV system design at concept and preliminary level for utility-scale projects.
• Define technical scope and Basis of Design for solar scope, coordinate with EPC partners.
• Serve as technical contact across internal teams and EPCs.
• Evaluate site conditions during early feasibility to confirm buildable area and performance assumptions.
• Identify interconnection, permitting, and code compliance requirements for solar scope.
• Review solar equipment vendors and proposals, coordinate with Procurement.
• Support construction and commissioning on site to resolve issues and ensure design intent.
