Job summary

Standard Solar in Rockville, MD is seeking a Development Engineer to drive early-stage project development. You will perform site evaluation, design concepts, PV modeling, and deliver technical support for Sales and Finance teams.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in engineering, hands-on solar PV exposure, and strong skills with AutoCAD, PVsyst, HelioScope, SketchUp, PVcase, and Excel. This full-time role is office-based with opportunities to contribute across teams.

Qualifications

BS or MS in ABET-accredited engineering; Electrical, Energy, or Renewable Energy preferred.
2–5 years engineering experience; at least 1 year in large-scale solar PV.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, HelioScope, SketchUp, PVcase, and Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Support technical proposals and customer presentations for Commercial Sales and Finance.
Identify deliverables for early-stage project development with Sales.
Design preliminary early-stage projects, PV1s, PVsyst modeling, and single-line drawings.
Perform due diligence, tariff and load analyses, and prepare calculations.
Assist in developing Preliminary Engineering Plans and review 3rd party documents.
