Job summary

DAn Solutions, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Software Test Engineer to ensure quality during modernization of a critical government information system.

This role focuses on UI testing, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility for Java-based web apps while performing backend troubleshooting and API validation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Tomcat, Oracle 19c, Solr, LDAP, and SAP BI, plus SQL data validation and defect tracking.

Qualifications

DAn Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Software Test Engineer with strong user interface (UI) testing expertise and backend debugging skills to ensure quality and compliance during the modernization of a critical government information system.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing functional and regression testing of Java-based web applications, with an emphasis on user interface validation, accessibility compliance, and cross-browser compatibility.

The successful candidate must also be capable of performing backend troubleshooting, including reviewing application and server logs, validating APIs, and executing database queries to isolate defects and provide developers with actionable diagnostic information.

This role supports the testing and modernization of enterprise systems incorporating Apache Tomcat application servers, Oracle 19c databases, Apache Solr, LDAP, and SAP Business Intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Execution

• Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases for system upgrades and new functionality.

• Perform functional and regression testing of Java-based web applications.

• Conduct UI validation and cross-browser compatibility testing.

• Execute manual testing methodologies for complex application scenarios.

• Review and troubleshoot backend application and server logs to identify the causes of application failures.

• Perform API testing for backend services, including Apache Solr and RESTful services.

• Execute SQL queries to validate application data and database integrity.

• Verify system buildout activities, including installation, configuration, and integration.

• Track, document, and manage software defects while coordinating resolution with development teams.

Compliance and Accessibility Testing

• Validate application compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements.

• Ensure adherence to Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

• Test enterprise applications operating in Windows Server environments.

• Verify security controls and data protection measures.

Test Automation and Integration

• Develop and maintain UI automation frameworks for regression testing.

• Integrate automated testing into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Support improvements to automated test execution and overall testing efficiency.

System Component Testing

• Test Apache Tomcat application server deployments and configurations.

• Validate authentication and backend interactions with LDAP services.

• Test Oracle 19c database integrations and data flows.

• Verify data migration integrity and application integrations with Apache Solr.

• Test SAP Business Intelligence reporting interfaces and outputs.

• Ensure a consistent and reliable user experience across the modernized platform.

Collaboration and Documentation

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical stakeholders.

• Document testing activities, results, defects, and quality metrics.

• Prepare detailed analytical reports regarding system quality, defects, and release readiness.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent analytical skills and thorough technical documentation practices.

• Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams in regulated environments.

• Knowledge of federal cybersecurity requirements and Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards.

• Familiarity with Windows Server environments.

• Experience testing Apache Tomcat application servers, Oracle 19c databases, and SAP Business Intelligence interfaces.

• API testing experience involving Apache Solr and RESTful services.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab.

Additional Information

This position follows a hybrid schedule requiring approximately 2–3 days on-site per week. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain the required security clearance and polygraph.

Salary Range Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the good-faith minimum and maximum compensation DAn Solutions expects to pay for this position. The position may be filled at different Labor Category (LCAT) levels depending on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contract requirements. Final compensation within the posted range will be determined based on the applicable LCAT and factors including education, relevant experience, certifications, and other required qualifications.
