Position Summary

Assures that software products and processes are in accordance with the policies, procedures, work instructions and standards of Airbus US Space and Defense and conform to pre-established technical and contractual customer requirements. Responsibilities include the establishment of a Software Quality Program Plan (SQPP) in support of software development activities with and associated procedures in accordance with applicable standards (i.e. DOD-STD-2167A and DOD-STD-2168). Responsibilities include performing analysis of requirements and design specifications; coding walkthroughs; test specification and procedure review; monitoring tests and analyzing test results to assure compliance with specifications; participation in Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings; participation in functional and physical configuration audits.

Position Responsibilities
1. Satellite Manufacturing Mission Assurance (65%)
  • Ensure software meets quality standards through testing, defect identification, and process improvement, collaborating with developers and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality products.
  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, scenarios, and scripts to ensure software meets requirements and performs as expected.
  • Identify and document software defects, bugs, and potential risks.
  • Assess software usability and functionality to identify potential user difficulties.
  • Document and track software defects using bug tracking systems.
  • Report defects to software developers and collaborate on fixing them.
  • Analyze the root cause of defects and propose solutions.
  • Establish and attain Quality performance goals and improvement objectives for the company. Responsible for generating, monitoring, and reporting site‑specific quality metrics to the company executive team, as well as the customer.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory agency, government regulations, contract specifications, and company policies/procedures.
  • Effectively representing the company at customer, regulatory agency, and internal management meetings.
  • Assure that all product and process quality deficiencies are satisfactorily resolved through application of the Root Cause Corrective Action process. Establish and execute quality improvement plans for systemic product and process defects.
  • Perform software products and process evaluations using objective measures of software, associated documentation and the processes of the software product life cycle.
  • Provide feedback to management on the effectiveness of the software development effort to build, deliver, and maintain a quality software product.
  • Ensure all documentation and acceptance inspection of Flight Software delivery are in full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with concerned parties during all phases of software acceptance and delivery.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for defects.
2. Software Development (15%)
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle to ensure quality.
  • Review requirements, code, and documentation for quality and adherence to standards.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Implement new quality processes and systems where appropriate.
  • Support a Design for Quality, inspection, manufacturability, and testability philosophy within capital and program investments.
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities throughout the business, ensuring that problems are prevented and that customer requirements are met with any problems resolved effectively and economically.
4. Additional Responsibilities (10%)

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with different testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using testing tools and technologies.
Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in software engineering. (Masters preferred).
Experience
  • Required:
    • 5 years of experience in Software Quality assurance (or equivalent).
    • 10 years in Software Engineering.
    • Ability to build and perform manual and automated software testing processes.
    • Ability to conduct test analysis and verify quality requirements.
    • Familiarity with software testing in relation to specific stages of production development.
    • Knowledge of processes, requirements management and engineering and project life cycles and their application.
    • Experience delivering within multi‑functional and/or multinational teams to achieve our goals.
    • Experience delivering improvement actions/projects.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in satellite manufacturing and mission assurance.
    • Experience with configuration management practices.
    • Experience with AS9100.
