We are looking for a capable developer to support daily operations while our primary team executes a database modernization from SQL Server to AWS Aurora. You will need to switch fluidly between backend maintenance in Java and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Pulumi (TypeScript).

• Strong Software Engineering Foundation: Proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming (OOP) patterns is essential. We are looking for an engineer-first approach; strong programming skills are valued above experience with declarative tools alone.
• Cloud & DevOps Expertise: Solid hands-on experience within the AWS ecosystem and working with Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:

• Backfill day-to-day operations by troubleshooting and resolving bugs in the Java backend application.

• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for AWS using Pulumi (in TypeScript), applying solid Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

• Support the database modernization team with specific tasks as they arise, such as creating and running load-testing scripts for the new AWS Aurora database.

• Troubleshoot Kubernetes environments and handle reactive platform tickets to free up the internal core team.
