Job summary

RTX (Raytheon) is seeking a Senior Software Integration and Test Engineer for the AN/TPY-2 program in Woburn, MA. The role focuses on deploying and validating radar software, leading integration efforts, and ensuring high availability of deployed systems.

You will work in a Linux-based environment with Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices, mentoring peers and coordinating with systems, hardware, and cybersecurity teams. Security clearance eligibility and residency in the US are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead within the deployed software team for AN/TPY-2 radar systems.
• Lead installation, integration, and configuration of radar builds, updates, and patches.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues in Linux with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans to validate new software builds.
• Analyze system performance data and identify improvements to the software baseline.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight on integration and testing activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, hardware, and cybersecurity to deploy robust radar solutions.
• Support on-site deployments, installations, and troubleshooting to maintain high availability.
• Contribute to process improvements in integration and testing tooling and methodologies.
• Prepare and present technical documentation to stakeholders.

The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a Senior Software Integration and Test Engineer for the AN/TPY-2 Program. The department's mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ Agile Scrum and DevSecOps processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers.

What You Will Do

• Serve as a technical lead within the deployed software team, providing advanced reach-back support to operational AN/TPY-2 radar systems.
• Lead the installation, integration, and configuration of new radar builds, software updates, and patches onto the AN/TPY-2 radar system, ensuring seamless deployment.
• Drive the troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex software and system issues in a Linux environment, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans and procedures to validate new software builds, ensuring they meet system requirements and operational performance standards.
• Analyze system performance data to identify and implement improvements to the software baseline.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight on integration and testing activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including systems, hardware, and cybersecurity specialists, to support the development and deployment of robust radar system solutions.
• Support on-site activities, including deployments, system installations, and troubleshooting, with a focus on maintaining high operational availability.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of integration and testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Prepare and present technical documentation, including test reports, analysis findings, and recommendations, to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Experience in software integration, testing, troubleshooting or administration in a Linux-based environment.
• Software development and debugging skills using languages such as C++, Python, or similar.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required after start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Advanced knowledge of radar systems, real-time software, or missile defense applications, particularly the AN/TPY-2 radar system.
• Experience working in field-deployed operational support roles, including direct interaction with customers and end-users.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira.
• Experience with system integration labs (SIL) or hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing environments.
• Understanding of cybersecurity and information assurance requirements in a Linux setting.
