Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own backend services, infrastructure, and data systems powering the Wallet. You will design scalable architectures and deliver high-quality, secure integrations for crypto and tokenized stocks, collaborating with product, design, and security teams.

You will mentor peers, help raise engineering standards, and participate in architecture discussions to drive robust, high-performance systems across global customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop reliable and secure solutions to deliver a high-quality trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for designing scalable architectures and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate closely with client engineers, security professionals, and external node providers to deliver high-quality, secure technical integrations. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers and raise our overall engineering standards through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands‑on technical leadership.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What You’ll Do

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.
• Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.
• Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering high-quality, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards.

Bonus points

• Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.
• Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

$196,000—$230,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$172,000—$202,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$153,000—$179,000 USD

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.
