Job summary

Jobtailor in Austin, TX is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade Java and React applications. You will drive architecture decisions, mentor peers, and collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in CS/SE or related field.
• 7+ years of software engineering with heavy Java focus.
• 3+ years mentoring peers and driving technical initiatives.
• Hands-on with React, Quarkus, Hibernate, REST APIs, microservices.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions) and agile methods.
• Strong debugging, design skills and software engineering fundamentals.
• No GM immigration sponsorship required now or in future; no H-1B etc.
• Preferred: React, Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Preferred: complex SQL queries, SCRUM experience.

• Develop and communicate a technical vision aligned with product requirements and goals
• Collaborate with architects on technology decisions and innovative strategies
• Evaluate new technologies and drive strategic innovation initiatives
• Lead end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade React and Java applications
• Build solutions using Java, Quarkus, React, microservices, and modern software architecture
• Apply SOLID principles, test-driven development, clean architecture, shared libraries, utilities, and component-based development
• Lead adoption of Quarkus, Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure and deployment strategies
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for code integration, testing, and deployment using tools such as GitHub Actions
• Ensure application security, reliability, and observability through logging, monitoring, and incident response planning
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance engineering culture
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and provide technical feedback and growth opportunities
• Participate in engineering ceremonies and align with product managers, architects, and engineers
• Advise the persistent team by translating complex technical topics into business-relevant insights
• Propose technologies, define architectural approaches, and establish pragmatic solutions and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a heavy focus on Java
• 3+ years mentoring peers and driving technical initiatives
• Hands-on experience with React, Quarkus, Hibernate, REST APIs, microservices, and design patterns
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, automated testing, and agile methodologies
• Deep understanding of software engineering principles and modern system design
• Strong debugging and optimization skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional planning capabilities to translate features into user stories, prioritize them, and communicate their details

• Applicants may be required to complete role-related assessments and/or pre-employment screening
