Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a Software Engineer 3/Sr Software Engineer to participate in design, programming, testing and implementation of complex applications. You will evaluate software packages, recommend technologies, and plan adoption strategies to meet future needs.

The role requires hands-on leadership on critical projects, collaboration with IT teams, and strong knowledge of .NET/Java, and modern web frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
• Six years of experience in business software design, development, integration or installation for the Software Engineer 3 position.
• Eight years of experience for Sr Software Engineer position.
• Hands-on experience in .NET and/or Java; modern web frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for highly complex software projects and ensure alignment with business goals.
• Perform project planning, system analysis, design, coding, testing and documentation for software projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor team members; manage work allocation and priorities.
• Oversee development to ensure performance optimization, interoperability, and secure development lifecycle compliance.
• Collaborate with IT teams to identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Stay current with industry standards and apply best practices to development and reporting.
