Job summary

Orb is hiring an experienced software engineer to help build the pricing, billing, and revenue platform. You will design core pricing lifecycle primitives, evolve data models, and scale real-time ingestion and query systems for large deployments while collaborating with product, design, sales, and customer success teams.

You will engage with customers directly to understand pain points, contribute to the product roadmap, and ensure the platform remains reliable and accurate at scale.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Broad technical scope across stack with strong ownership.
• Excellent attention to detail in product design and UX and API surfaces.
• Willing to engage with customers to shape the product.

About the role

As an engineer at Orb, you’ll help to build the technical foundations of a critical product that needs to be reliable and accurate at scale. You’ll work closely with our customers to understand pain points in their business processes, and help incorporate those insights into our product roadmap. Our customers rely on Orb to transform an inherently complex domain (billing, from data ingestion to subscription management and revenue recognition) into an efficient, powerful, and easy-to-use experience.

In this role you will

• Design and maintain core pricing lifecycle primitives with a focus on extensibility and ease of use
• Evolve the product data model to balance complexity and clarity
• Scale real-time ingestion and query systems for large, high-performance deployments
• Collaborate cross-functionally (PM, design, sales, customer success) to shape strategy and deliver value
• Learn from and contribute to a highly skilled team

About you

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• Enthusiastic about working on a broad range of technical challenges across the stack
• Attention to detail in designing a product with deep user empathy (in visual UX, API design, and everything in between)
• Excited to engage with customers directly to shape the Orb product
• Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate (with support from Orb)
