Handshake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the systems powering high-quality coding data and evaluations for next‑gen AI models. Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go or similar.
• Experience designing and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong fundamentals in testing, APIs, data structures, distributed systems, observability.
• Experience building developer tools, data pipelines, or evaluation systems.
• Comfort in ambiguous environments and turning problems into executable plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain tradeoffs.
• Proven track record of ownership and delivery with teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable software systems for coding evaluation and data generation.
• Develop tools to analyze, validate, and improve AI-generated code.
• Create reliable pipelines for code execution, testing, benchmarking, and quality measurement.
• Collaborate with engineering, research, operations, and customer teams to translate requirements.
• Drive architectural decisions, APIs, data models, observability, and reliability.
• Improve velocity with reusable frameworks, automation, and tooling.
• Lead projects from definition to launch and iteration.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and day-to-day collaboration.
• Maintain high standards for maintainability, correctness, and security.
