Job summary

Nova Music is building a unified platform for independent music teachers to manage scheduling, billing, and family communication. We seek a Senior Software Engineer, Product to translate customer problems into reliable software and own meaningful projects end-to-end.

You'll work across the React/TypeScript web app, Supabase and PostgreSQL backend, and Stripe integrations, collaborating with product, design, customers, and other engineers to ship impactful improvements.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development.
• Backend experience with PostgreSQL, APIs, authentication, or serverless functions.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship product improvements across scheduling, billing, messaging, student management, and practice.
• Build accessible, responsive interfaces with React and TypeScript.
• Develop secure backend workflows using Supabase, PostgreSQL, and Edge Functions.
• Own integrations with Stripe, email providers, analytics, and other services that support the product.
• Make sound technical tradeoffs and keep projects moving from an early idea through production.
• Improve automated tests, observability, performance, and release confidence.
• Review code and help establish clear engineering patterns as the team grows.
• Work with the iOS team on shared APIs, data contracts, and consistent product behavior.
• Use customer feedback and product data to improve what we build and how we build it.
• Improve the instructions, tools, and safeguards that make AI-assisted engineering more effective.

We’re building Nova Music to give independent music teachers one place to run their studios. Nova brings scheduling, attendance, billing, family communication, lesson records, student portals, and practice into one connected experience.

The role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Product who can turn important customer problems into reliable, thoughtful software.

You’ll work across Nova’s React and TypeScript web app, Supabase and PostgreSQL backend, Stripe integrations, and the systems that connect teachers with their students and families.

You’ll own meaningful projects from technical design through production and work closely with product, design, customers, and other engineers along the way.

What we’re looking for

• You have 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience and can own substantial projects independently.
• You’re strong in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development.
• You have meaningful backend experience with PostgreSQL, APIs, authentication, or serverless functions.
• You’ve worked on products where payments, scheduling, permissions, or customer data need to be correct and trustworthy.
• You write clear, well-tested code and know how to investigate production behavior.
• You balance technical quality with the need to deliver useful customer outcomes.
• You communicate clearly with product, design, and engineering partners.
• You use AI coding agents for substantial production work and know how to validate their output.

Experience with education software, appointment-based businesses, Stripe, or Supabase is especially useful.
