Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Network On-Ramps to design and scale distributed networking software across our edge infrastructure. You'll work on an anycast BGP implementation, flow and log analytics, and a Linux kernel-based dataplane.

You will own features end-to-end, collaborate with top engineers and product managers, and ship solutions that impact millions of customers, while focusing on performance, reliability, and clear communication across teams.

Qualifications

• Experience building and shipping large-scale, reliable, distributed systems.
• Systems-level programming in Go and Rust.
• Expertise in L3/L4 networking protocols.
• Experience with Linux kernel networking primitives (netfilter, nftables, eBPF, tc, namespaces).
• RESTful APIs and backend systems design.
• Large-scale distributed data pipelines, data structuring, querying, analysis.
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
• Attention to detail and problem solving for customers.

About the role

We are hiring engineers of all experience levels on our teams. Some of the things our teams work on include:

• An anycast BGP implementation that sustains sessions that are moved across servers and regions
• Flow and log collection, correlation, and analytics systems to provide customers with unparalleled visibility into their own networks
• A Linux kernel-based networking dataplane which ingests and forwards traffic from some of the largest networks in the world
• Control plane systems which allow customers to simply express complex network configurations

As a Software Engineer on our team, you will work across a wide range of technologies and systems to deliver new features, improve performance, and increase the scalability of our Network Services products. Youll build, deploy, and operate our teams systems on top of one of the largest edge networks in the world. Youll partner with some of the best engineers and product managers to solve big problems that have a meaningful impact in the lives of our customers and users.
