Job summary

Attentive is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its ML Platform team to enable high-velocity ML model training, serving, and deployment across the company’s AI product suite.

You’ll contribute to building a foundational ML platform spanning the full ML lifecycle for engineers and data scientists, with influence on architectural roadmaps and company-wide ML initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Data Engineering / MLOps with PB-scale feature store pipelines.
• Deep Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, and Ray Data experience; built ML data pipelines with these tools.
• Understanding of data cardinality, query plans, configuration, hardware impacts on pipeline performance.
• Experience creating infrastructure for training ML models and fine-tuning LLMs.
• Understanding online versus offline ML inferences and how to address each to meet business needs.

About the Role

We’re looking for a self-motivated, highly driven Senior Software Engineer to join our Machine Learning Platform (MLPlatform) team. This role helps enable Attentive’s ML practice to directly impact Attentive’s AI product suite by providing tools to train, serve, and deploy ML models with high velocity and reliability. You will contribute to building and maintaining a foundational ML platform that spans the full ML lifecycle for ML engineers and data scientists. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing ML Platform team at the ground floor, with influence over architectural roadmaps that empower the entire ML organization at Attentive.

This team is responsible for building and operating the ML data, tooling, serving, and inference layers of the ML platform. We are excited to expand this stack with more engineers.

What You’ll Accomplish

• Unlock offline and real-time access to trillions of data points for our ML and Data Science teams.
• Manage, expand, and optimize our feature store enabling feature engineering, multi-TB scale training jobs, and offline/real-time inferencing.
• Support PB-scale data operations on the feature store using Apache Spark, Spark Structured Streaming, Kafka, and Ray.
• Partner with other teams and business stakeholders to deliver ML and AI initiatives.

Your Expertise

• 5+ years in Data Engineering / MLOps, with built and matured PB-scale feature store pipelines.
• Deep Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, and Ray Data experience; built ML data pipelines with these tools.
• Understanding of data cardinality, query plans, configuration, hardware impacts on pipeline performance.
• Experience creating infrastructure for training ML models and fine-tuning LLMs.
• Understanding online versus offline ML inferences and how to address each to meet business needs.

What We Use

• Infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes on AWS EKS.
• Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm.
• Backend: Java / Spring Boot microservices with Gradle, using DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, PlanetScale, and Redis on AWS.
• Frontend: React and TypeScript with GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright.
• Automation leverages Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas.

Compensation (US-based applicants)

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $250,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.
• Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
