Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, test, and debug applications and systems for manufacturing and automation. You will collaborate with equipment designers, hardware engineers, IT, and production teams to meet production needs and standards.

The role requires a degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) with experience; relocation assistance is provided, and the position resides in Newport News, VA. U.S. citizenship is required for this role.

Qualifications

• ABET engineering degree required or documented equivalent.
• Master's degree with relevant experience adds advantage.
• Ph.D. with relevant experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and hardware engineers.
• Determines user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems and prepare operating instructions.
• Maintains software repositories, version control, and configuration baselines.
