Job summary
Publix Super Markets, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Labor Management team in Lakeland, FL.
You will design, build, and deliver scalable labor management applications that forecast, track time, attendance, and scheduling, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals. The role requires deep expertise in .NET, SQL, React, Kafka, and Agile practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years developing enterprise apps using .NET Framework in production.
- 1+ year experience with SQL, ORM, and query optimization.
- 1+ year experience building frontend with React and APIs.
- 1+ year agile experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable enterprise applications and APIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business goals.
- Lead technical delivery across multiple initiatives while upholding standards.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and engineering best practices.

Become part of the Labor Management team, designing, building, and delivering a robust application that supports Publix business areas in managing labor activities such as forecasting, time attendance, and scheduling. In this role, you will be seen as the product champion – leading the technical strategy, driving the delivery of a highly available, resilient, and scalable labor management application. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the technical team is meeting business goals.
Location: Hybrid (Lakeland, FL):

- Design and deliver scalable applications, APIs, databases, and event-driven solutions using React, .NET, SQL, and Kafka.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build, support, and enhance enterprise applications.
- Lead technical delivery for multiple initiatives while ensuring adherence to development standards.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers to drive engineering excellence.
- Participate in Agile planning, refinement, review, and retrospective activities.
- Develop and optimize Kafka-based integrations and real-time data processing solutions.
- Improve database performance through SQL tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other analytical discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience leveraging .NET Framework (8, 9, or 10), in application design, development, and delivery in an enterprise environment
- 1+ years of experience with SQL, including experience with database design, query optimization, and the use of ORM frameworks (such as Dapper or Entity Framework) to develop efficient and scalable applications
- 1+ years of experience developing modern frontend React.js frameworks integrated with backend APIs
- 1+ year of experience working in Agile environments and utilizing Azure DevOps for backlog management, sprint planning, code delivery, and CI/CD support.
- Experience designing and supporting event-driven applications using Apache Kafka, including message production, consumption, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in reviewing and approving design of complex technical solutions working with architects and other company resources
- Experience with Kubernetes (K3), Docker, or other containerization technologies such as OpenShift
- Experience planning, organizing, and managing projects and projects teams
- Experience or desire to work in event-based/micro-service style architecture
- Experience with .NET 10
- Experience with Kafka Connect and Kafka Smart Router

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
