NinjaOne is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform & Asset Management team. You will own software used by thousands of customers, shaping how they build and maintain knowledge bases, custom fields, checklists, and assets.

The role supports hybrid remote work within the USA and requires experience with Java, Kotlin, and scalable architectures. The team emphasizes quality, observability, and client/server design, with a stack including Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang, Postgres, and AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years experience in Java software development for product applications; Kotlin is a plus.
• 4+ years experience with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience scaling systems with event-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong knowledge of OOP design principles and REST service development.
• Relational database design and development experience.
• Experience client and server-side development for responsive messaging.
• Caching systems experience with Redis.
• Expertise in quality testing practices and telemetry/observability.

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Platform & Asset Management team. Our team gives customers the tools to shape the platform around their specific needs. We own the products that let organizations build and maintain their own knowledge bases, create custom checklists, define custom fields that capture the data unique to their environment, and manage apps and services directly inside NinjaOne, along with many other features that put real power in our customers’ hands.

On the asset side, we cover software license tracking, asset discovery, and visibility into unmanaged devices, so customers have a clearer picture of what they own and what is connected.

Because these capabilities touch nearly every part of the product, our work influences how thousands of organizations document, customize, and operate their IT environments day to day. You will own software that more than 40,000 customers rely on to make NinjaOne fit their processes.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack can’t hurt: NinjaOne is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang and Postgres; supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS. Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design and client-server architecture will help you.

What You’ll be Doing

• Java and Kotlin Software Development– use your expertise to contribute to the development of large-scale software applications. Make quality an invariant part of your work and help your fellow engineers continue to meet our quality-first standards.
• Committing Code and Shipping Products – you will be one of our most trusted engineers committing code. Responsible for implementing design patterns and working on enterprise level software challenges, in a startup environment. Impact product more hands on than at other companies, building software of scale that runs on millions and millions of endpoints.
• Other duties as needed.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years experience in Java software development for product applications or equivalent. Solid expertise in Kotlin will make you a stand out candidate.
• 4+ years experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience scaling systems with event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Jersey or Spring.
• Relational Database design and development experience.
• Experience creating both client and server-side development, for responsive messaging.
• Caching systems expertise and experience with Redis will make you a stand-out.
• Expert knowledge of quality testing practices.
• Experience treating telemetry and observability as core acceptance criteria.

This position is NOT eligible for Visa sponsorship. Due to federal government security requirements associated with our FedRAMP-authorized environment, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

• Due to operational policies, NinjaOne is unable to hire for this role within the city limits of Chicago. We will consider all qualified candidates who reside outside of the city proper or are willing to self-relocate.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to location, market demands, experience, job-related knowledge, and skills. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage and PTO. For roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, or Washington the base salary hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000 per year.

For roles based in New York, the base salary hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
