Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and evolve a world-class shared platform supporting Disney’s media delivery ecosystem. You will define platform capabilities, craft solutions, and balance speed with scalability.

You will collaborate with engineers across teams, oversee system performance, and contribute to a culture of code quality and continuous learning. This role is based in Seattle, WA with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency in at least one core programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript).
• Experience working with microservices and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with AWS core services (S3, Lambda, EC2).
• Experience with at least one database system (SQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch).
• Experience with messaging technology such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience with software development best practice, including functional or object oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
• Exposure to full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate & troubleshoot in the analysis and resolution of engineering problems involving distributed services and APIs.

Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. Content Platforms Engineering is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and innovate a world class shared service platform to support content delivery for brands such as Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel and Star Wars. Our team of talented software engineers builds and manages a diverse suite of products and services that advance Disney’s media supply chain powering some of the most watched entertainment content. You will help to define platform capabilities, design and implement product solutions, while balancing complexity, speed of implementation, and expandability.

Responsibilities

Required Education

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
