Job summary

Walmart Global Tech in Sunnyvale, CA is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Driver Experience group under Last Mile Delivery. This on-site, full-time role involves developing highly scalable services for millions of daily requests, within Walmart's broader delivery platform.

You will design and build large-scale distributed systems, contribute to API and service development, and mentor small teams while solving complex engineering problems at scale.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Native App development.
  • Experience with RxSwift, Swift, UIKit, Foundation, and xibs/storyboard.
  • 3+ years of experience in Cloud Components and Architecture.
  • Strong communication and ability to explain complex concepts.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and services.
  • Knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud Stack or other cloud stacks.
  • Experience with open-source libraries, design patterns, and microservice architecture.
  • Understanding of CI/CD and unit testing.

About the Team

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a key position on Walmart's Driver Experience group under the Last Mile Delivery initiative. Driver experience is key to the success of the Last Mile platform that powers Walmart's Grocery, General Merchandize and Same Day Delivery propositions. We deal with driver Payments, miles driven, externalization of Walmart Core delivery services. Last Mile Delivery is expected to grow multiple times over in the next few years. In this role, you will develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.

What You'll Do

Take the lead on problems related to scale ; monetization. Leverage your experience of designing and building large scale distributed systems, solving problems related to scale and have experience with process huge amounts of data. Assist in providing guidance to small groups of 1 to 3 engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline. Provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues. Research and identify needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short- and long-term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associates domain. Manage small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; researching and identifying alternative solutions; Determine needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); Write and develop code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; identifying areas of opportunity; interpreting information and identifying a solution; ensuring solution is sustainable across implementation and use. Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

What You'll Bring

6+ years of working experience in Native App development. Experience with RxSwift ; Swift languages, UIKit ; Foundation frameworks, and xibs ; storyboard. 3+ years of working experience in Cloud Components and Architecture. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and be able to articulate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences. Demonstrated high level design of systems. Solid experience in large scale distributed systems and event-driven architecture. Have designed, built, and maintained APIs, services of highly scalable platforms. Have experience with Kafka or other high volume-low latency messaging infrastructure. Have experience with Azure Cloud Stack or other cloud stacks. Have extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns and micro-service architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing.

Minimum Qualifications
