Job summary

Google LLC in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Infrastructure in Google Distributed Cloud. You will build and operate on-premise Anthos clusters, delivering compute and storage services for retail and manufacturing customers, with cloud-native tooling and managed Kubernetes.

Expected to collaborate across teams, participate in design reviews, and drive scalable infrastructure solutions while navigating a fast-paced environment and multiple product lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or compute/storage hardware.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience in a Linux/Unix operating system environment.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing sources of issues.

As a part of this team, you will build the infrastructure for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) connected on-premise Anthos clusters as the platform provides a variety of customers including retail and global telecommunications with a managed k8s platform that is located in their data centers, connected to their private network. You will deliver the compute and storage services that support mission-critical workloads for Retail customers as well as Manufacturing customers including Application Specific Machine Learning (ASML).
