Job summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join its Software Quality Assurance team. You will verify the quality of mission critical flight simulation and training systems and build test automation for critical business applications.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of software testing experience in Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid environments, strong SQL skills, and hands-on experience with test frameworks including TFS, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Playwright is

Purpose of Position

The Senior Software Engineer in Test is a senior level position as part of FlightSafety InternationalA's Software Quality Assurance Team and plays a key role in verifying the overall quality of mission critical applications and systems. As part of a highly collaborative team, this role will interact with many technical and business resources across the enterprise and will be responsible for building test automation for critical business systems.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Perform black box and white box testing using exploratory testing techniques.
  • Proactively collaborate with business representatives and software engineers in analyzing use cases and requirements.
  • Analyze application logic and write complete and reusable test scripts.
  • Perform all aspects of testing including writing test planning documentation, executing testing tasks, analyzing test results and documenting defects.
  • Holds defect review meetings with Development and the Business to ensure proper prioritization and resolution.
  • Provide updates to the project team on testing activities and communicate key milestones.
  • Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans.
  • Develop daily/weekly status calls and or reports (metrics) for test execution as needed.
  • Partner with the business to develop testing strategies for UAT and obtain approval on release readiness.
  • Drive and support automation strategies across multiple applications.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding automation frameworks.
  • Identify automation opportunities across a diverse technology stack.
  • Experience building test automation using the playwright framework desired.
  • Conduct proof of concept investigations into new tools, methods and test strategies.
  • Coordinate with test engineering leadership to set and maintain consistent standards for testing strategies and development across efforts at FSI.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum Experience
  • 5 plus years of professional experience in software testing.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Experience working in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid environments.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models.
  • Proven ability to translate requirements into test plans, cases and scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of Database and SQL queries for data validation.
  • Results Driven mindset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft related testing tools (TFS, Visual Studio, Test Manager).
  • Experience using Cloud technologies (Azure DevOps).
  • Participate in the scrum process, including stands ups and related activities.
  • Successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross functional business teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Mobile concepts and building test automation for Mobile applications a plus.
  • Knowledge of the front end web stack: XML, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, DOM, etc.
  • Web service and other API concepts: SOAP, OData, REST, etc.
  • SDLC and test management tools: TFS, Jenkins, Git, etc.
  • Coordinate with test engineering leadership to set and maintain consistent standards for testing strategies and development across efforts at FSI.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required touse hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate. The employee maybe requiredto stand, walk, and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to view monitors, technical documents, and reference material. The noise level in the work environment isusually lowto moderate.
