Job summary

Micro Systems Engineering, Inc. (MSEI) in Lake Oswego, Oregon, seeks a Staff Software Development Engineer to architect, develop, verify, and maintain software for implantable spinal cord stimulation systems and clinical applications.

You will lead technical initiatives, work with Systems, Electrical, Firmware, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, and Product Management, and ensure compliance with FDA regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing complex software using modern languages (C#, C++, Kotlin).
• Experience with OO design and software architecture patterns.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and Git.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of software for medical devices and clinician applications.
• Define software architecture and technical direction for complex projects.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested software following established standards.
• Participate in requirements, design, risk analysis, implementation and release activities.
• Ensure compliance with FDA QSR and related quality standards.
• Mentor engineers on best practices, code quality, and patterns.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and clinical teams to integrate software with devices.
• Support cybersecurity, reliability, and performance initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
• Investigate field issues and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, and tooling improvements.
• Engage in design reviews, hazard analyses, and risk management for patient safety.
• Provide technical guidance during regulatory submissions and audits.
