Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead end-to-end design and delivery of complex features in a cloud-native environment. You will craft maintainable code, reduce technical debt, and mentor junior engineers across multiple codebases.

You will collaborate with Product and Customer Success, apply AI-assisted development tools, and drive architecture, scalability, and security across services.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record of making high-impact technical decisions and shipping well-tested code.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex features and systems end to end.
• Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and reduce complexity by simplifying services and paying down technical debt.
• Mentor junior engineers and level up the team through code reviews and feedback.
• Evolve the platform to support new services and capabilities across codebases and domains.
• Partner with Product and Customer Success to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging.
• Promote secure, scalable, cloud-native web application development.
