PayPal is seeking a software engineer in San Jose to deliver complete solutions across the Software Development Lifecycle. You will advise management on project issues, guide junior engineers, and operate with minimal supervision, applying industry best practices and robust design principles.

The role emphasizes Java-based development, RESTful services, and scalable architectures within a hybrid work model supporting 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent.
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures, OO design, design patterns and multi‑threaded programming.
• Strong OOP skills, ability to translate requirements into scalable designs.
• Experience with HTTP, REST APIs, and building web services/microservices.
• Reliability, availability, scalability and performance focus.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Hands on Java Programming Expertise (Core Java, J2EE, Spring framework).
• Hands on Building Restful Services.
