Job summary
Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology in Santa Monica seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance the Commerce Growth Messaging platform serving millions of subscribers across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. You will own design, implementation and deployment of high‑availability, multi‑tenant messaging services and help expand internationally.
The role demands 5+ years in backend development, strong Java and cloud skills, and a proven track record delivering complex distributed systems
Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, Software, or related field.
- Proficiency in Java or other modern backend languages.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud architectures.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proven ability to own features end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Define architectural direction and technical roadmap for messaging services.
- Design, implement, and deploy large-scale distributed systems.
- Maintain highly available services handling massive traffic.
- Collaborate with multiple business units to integrate messaging requirements.
- Address internationalization as the streaming footprint grows.
- Drive engineering excellence with robust architecture and code quality.
