Job summary

Google seeks a Software Engineer for the Performance Simulation team in Sunnyvale, CA to design and develop simulation software and AI-driven platforms that model how AI workloads execute on applicant hardware architectures.

Responsibilities include building scalable simulation frameworks, modeling future model architectures, and integrating AI agentic toolchains to automate sweeps and analyses for hardware/ software decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software engineering (C++ and Python).
• Experience with computer architecture concepts (memory hierarchies, roofline models, bandwidth vs compute bottlenecks).
• Experience with software design for simulation, performance modeling, or scientific computing.
• Master's degree or PhD in CS or a related technical field is preferred.
• Experience designing LLM-based agentic orchestration loops or applying AI to automation in software/hardware workflows.
• Knowledge of transformer architectures and distributed execution paradigms across ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable performance simulation frameworks for TPU configurations.
• Model future model architectures and their interaction with architectural variables.
• Develop AI-agentic platforms to automate simulator sweeps and analyses.
• Build analytical/optimization engines to identify Pareto-optimal execution strategies.
• Formulate data-grounded performance projections to inform TPU roadmaps.
