Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance Generative AI projects, building assistants and AI-infused data processing pipelines. You will contribute to tooling, production-ready software, and scalable architectures at Cat Digital.
You will collaborate with data scientists and cross-functional teams to deploy Gen AI solutions on AWS, optimize edge deployment, and ensure robust pipelines using FastAPI, LangChain, and LangGraph.
Qualifications
- 5+ years or more of software development experience and solid working knowledge of OOP principles.
- 3+ years or more of designing and developing software applications in Python and/or GoLang (Nice to have frontend integration experience).
- Experience with modern Gen AI system architectures and techniques (multi agent, big tool, context management, MCP, long term memory).
- Exceptional communication skills with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with GitHub Actions or similar for deployment.
- Familiarity with AWS components like SageMaker Studio, Lambda, API Gateway, and RDS.
- Technical writing skills and ability to document design decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy Gen AI solutions using Python/Go and OOP principles.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Deploy solutions on AWS using CloudFormation.
- Work with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, and Crew.ai.
- Apply knowledge of LLMs and prompt engineering concepts.
- Develop services with FastAPI on AWS and deploy to edge devices.
- Collaborate with data scientists to productionize analytics solutions for scalability.
- Assist in building ML/AI pipelines with Apache Airflow.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will work on Generative AI projects focused building assistants, AI-infused processing pipelines, tooling, and software. Join our innovative team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI solutions at Cat Digital.
- Develop and deploy Gen AI solutions utilizing Python / Go and OOP principles.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Deploy solutions on AWS using CloudFormation.
- Work with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, and Crew.ai.
- Apply knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering concepts.
- Develop and deploy services using FastAPI on AWS.
- Develop services and components to be deployed to edge devices.
- Collaborate with data scientists to refactor analytics solutions for production, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Assist in the development of machine learning and AI pipelines using Apache Airflow.
- Software Development: Extensive knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
- Software Development Life Cycle: Extensive knowledge of the software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products.
- Software Product Design/Architecture: Extensive knowledge of software product design; ability to convert requirements into software product design.
- Software Product Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of technical aspects of a software products; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products.
- Software Product Testing: Extensive knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.
- 5+ years or more of software development experience and solid working knowledge of OOP principles.
- 3+ years or more of experience in designing and developing software applications in Python and/or GoLang. (Nice to have experience: Integration with frontend frameworks)
- Experience with modern Gen AI system architectures and techniques (multi agent, big tool, context management, MCP, long term memory)
- Exceptional communication skills with experience working on a cross-functional team
- Comfort planning, building, maintaining, and coordinating with others on large, complex projects.
- Experience with Python libraries such as FastAPI, LangGraph, and LangChain
- Experience working with Git version control on medium to large teams
- Deploying software using GitHub Actions or similar
- Experience with AWS components such as SageMaker Studio, Lambda, API Gateway, and RDS
- Technical writing skills
