Sift is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to build and maintain features across our web application and data processing backend for complex telemetry data. You will create intuitive UIs for data exploration and implement efficient APIs for real-time streams.

Based in Marina Del Rey, CA, the role is hybrid, with in-person collaboration twice a week and occasional relocation to LA or San Francisco for the right candidate. Salary range $170,000-$220,000 per year plus equity and benefits.

Sift is the data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. Sift turns high-frequency telemetry into engineering insights for mission-critical systems. Teams use Sift to build and operate rockets, satellites, autonomous vehicles, energy systems, defense platforms, and more.Founded by former SpaceX engineers who built the tools behind Dragon and Starlink, Sift is building the data infrastructure to herald the AI era for physical systems.

In This Role, You'll:

• Build and maintain full stack features across our web application and data processing backend for complex telemetry data

• Create intuitive user interfaces for data exploration while optimizing for large real-time datasets

• Implement efficient APIs and data access patterns for real-time data streaming

• Collaborate with data platform and frontend teams on service design and implementation

• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in technical design discussions

The Skillset You'll Bring:

• 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack software development

• Experience building production applications with technologies like React, NextJS, TypeScript, Go, Rust, and Python

• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, Timescale, or similar

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Bonus Points:

• Experience with technical visualization tools (WebGL, D3.js, Apache ECharts) and time-series data

• Knowledge of WebAssembly and browser-based computation

• Background in scientific computing or technical data visualization

• Experience building tools for technical users (dashboards, data-editing environments)

• Built and launched side projects with consistent usage traffic

Engineering At SIFT:

You'll have the opportunity to help evolve and scale our platform because we're still in the early stages of building the product. Relevant technologies include:

• Web frontend & backend: ECharts, Go, gRPC, PostgreSQL, Protobuf, Radix, React, Redux, and TypeScript

• Data: Arrow, DataFusion, Flink, Parquet, and Rust

• Infrastructure: Argo CD, AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions, Grafana, Kubernetes, Kustomize, Linux, Prometheus, and Terragrunt

Location:

Sift’s headquarters is in Marina Del Rey, CA (Next to LAX). We collaborate in person twice a week—on Mondays and Thursdays—and come together for a full week every two months. We are open to relocating candidates to LA or working from our San Francisco office for the right candidate.

Salary range: $170,000 - $220,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.
