Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer for the Find My team in Cupertino to design and build scalable, private location services. You will work with a cross-functional team to deliver highly available microservices at global scale, mentoring peers and shaping the product lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of software development, strong Java skills, cloud experience (AWS/GCP), and expertise in observability and deployment tooling. In-office Monday–Thursday in Cupertino as needed.

Description

In this role you will be a key contributor in designing and implementing highly available, large scale deployment solution which are scalable and reliable. You will partner with product, SRE and other engineering teams to bring those systems to life by building necessary tools. As a senior engineer, you’ll mentor junior engineers, contribute to design and code reviews, and help shape how Find My Micro Services scales into the future. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with remote teams where you'll apply a software engineering skills to build tools to tackle complex distributed systems challenges at global scale—and where your work will directly impact the stability and experience of millions of Find My users every day. Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of strong software development experience
• Ability to be in office Monday through Thursday
• Strong Java experience and a proven versatility to pick up other languages (such as Python, Go or Bash) for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience in building and integrating with micro services with focus on scalability and reliability.
• Hands on experience with pub-sub architecture leveraging technologies like Kafka
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in managing and working with cloud architectures like AWS, GCP.
• 2+ years of proficiency with Kubernetes (K8s) architecture, container runtimes, and package management.
• Hands-on experience with observability and integrating with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Splunk
• Hands-on experience with building tools/framework to manage system diagnosis.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of network security, firewalls, encryption (at rest and in transit), IAM roles, and secret management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, cloud native secret managers).
• Experience leveraging LLMs or AI tooling for operational automation and workflow optimization
• Strong ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
• Proven track record of leading and managing enterprise level projects or multi-functional engineering initiatives

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
