Job summary

Google Cambridge, MA, USA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to Envoy AI Foundations, helping shape design and build scalable infrastructure. The role requires deep distributed systems expertise, strong C++, OSS leadership, and mentoring of junior engineers across projects.

In-person interviews are part of the process, and you will collaborate with Google Cloud teams on high-impact software used globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews with peers to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to maintaining the scalability, stability, and security of Envoy that is required by the large-scale deployment at Google and expected by our OSS community.
• Be a leader in the OSS Envoy community (e.g., provide critical code reviews, participate in discussions and provide advice, become a maintainer).
