Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Plex DevOps, Product Security Engineering team. You will contribute to the software development life-cycle and support a hybrid work schedule with time spent in home and in the office.

You will run distributed cloud-based applications, build robust monitoring, and mature CI/CD pipelines through automation. The role requires 5+ years in software ops, Kubernetes, Docker, and scripting in a dynamic production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
• U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship).
• 5+ years of experience in software operations/automation preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure Pipelines, Travis CI, GitLab, CircleCI, Bamboo, Jenkins).
• Experience with cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Scripting knowledge (bash, PowerShell).
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages (Go, C#, Java, JS, Rust).
• Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies (Docker, Flux, Helm).
• Experience with configuration as code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Experience with secrets management (Azure Key Vault, Vault).
• Experience with distributed storage/data systems (Kafka, Redis, MongoDB).
• Windows and Linux familiarity.
• Artifact management tools (Artifactory, Sonatype).

Position Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer you will work on the DevOps team contributing to the software development life-cycle of the Plex family of products. You will report to the Manager, Plex DevOps & Product Security Engineering and work and have a hybrid schedule working at home for a portion of the week and in office for the remainder.

Your Responsibilities

• Run applications and services built on distributed cloud architectures
• Build and maintain a robust suite of monitors, alerts, automation and remediation plans for software systems running in a production environment
• Build and customize Docker images running our applications and services
• Automate frequent, repetitive tasks
• Help strengthen our focus on software quality, stability, and availability
• Help mature our CI/CD pipeline and streamline the workflow with automation

The Essentials - You Will Have

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have

• Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in software operations / automation
• Bachelor's in computer science or related area.
• Experience configuring and monitoring CI/CD tools (examples: Azure Pipelines, Travis CI, GitLab, CircleCI, Bamboo, Jenkins, etc.)
• Experience configuring and monitoring applications running on a cloud provider (examples: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with one or more scripting languages (examples: bash, PowerShell, Chocolatey)
• Familiarity with at least two different programming languages (examples: Go, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust)
• Experience configuring and monitoring applications running on Kubernetes
• Experience with container and cluster technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Flux, Helm, etc.)
• Experience with pull request-based development methodology (GITHub Enterprise, GITLAB, Azure Repositories, etc.)
• Familiarity with one or more database technologies (examples: SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience with configuration as code (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Azure Arm, AWS Cloud Formation, etc.)
• Experience with secrets and certificate management software (Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, Venafi, AppViewX, etc.)
• Experience with distributed storage and data systems (e.g. Kafka, Druid, Mongo, Redis)
• Experience with Azure and other Microsoft technologies
• Experience with Artifact management technologies (Artifactory, Sonatype, etc.)
