Job summary

AngelList is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (DevOps) to architect and scale infrastructure that supports billions in venture assets. You will deploy scalable Kubernetes environments, implement modern CI/CD pipelines, and design secure, observable systems using Terraform, Pulumi, and ArgoCD.

The role is based in our US hubs (SF/NY) with hybrid schedule and equity alongside base pay. You will collaborate across teams to reduce toil, improve tooling, and accelerate delivery while maintaining

Qualifications

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, with Ruby and Rust highly valued.
• Production Kubernetes experience is required.
• Track record of implementing or overhauling modern CI/CD systems.
• Strong IaC and cloud-native automation with Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD.

As a Senior Software Engineer (DevOps), you’ll architect and scale the systems that support billions in venture assets and redefine how founders and investors connect.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and operate scalable Kubernetes environments that serve as the backbone of our deployment infrastructure
• Implement modern CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and automation that enable rapid iteration across all engineering teams
• Design resilient, secure, and observable systems using Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD, and modern SRE practices
• Influence infrastructure direction through hands-on contribution, technical leadership, and roadmap planning
• Elevate developer experience by improving tooling and workflows across the stack
• Contribute to a high-leverage team that enables all engineers to move faster with confidence

What We’re Looking For

• Strong programming skills in multiple languages (with Ruby and Rust experience highly valued)
• Deep experience with Kubernetes in production environments (this is non-negotiable unless you’re a truly exceptional polyglot)
• A track record of implementing or overhauling modern, scalable CI/CD systems
• Expertise with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD)
• Comfort working across AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms
• A product‑minded engineer who can lead technical initiatives as capably as a full‑stack engineer
• We’re focused on forward‑looking infrastructure, not legacy stack maintenance

Bonus Traits

• Experience leading or contributing to open‑source projects
• Prior experience at a startup, or as a founder, showing self‑direction and ownership
• A passion for transforming financial access and building for scale

AngelList has offices in two hub cities: San Francisco and New York City that you can choose to work from. We’re focused on hiring within these hubs and people hired from these hub offices are expected to come into the office twice per week (Tuesdays and choice between Wednesday or Thursday).

Compensation: The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, performance based variable component, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $200,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.
