Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Developer Infrastructure group. You will design, build, and operate core services spanning CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and test infrastructure.

You will drive improvements in build speed, safety, and test reliability while owning end-to-end services, architecture, observability, and on-call work. Collaboration across teams is essential.

Senior Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure

Coinbase’s Developer Infrastructure group builds the systems every Coinbase engineer relies on to write, validate, ship, and run code. We own the path from commit to production, including CI and build infrastructure, deployment platforms, and test systems that give engineers fast, trustworthy feedback. We’re hiring Senior Software Engineers across several teams in the group, and you’ll be matched to the team that best fits your strengths and interests. Wherever you land, you’ll build and operate foundational platform services used across Coinbase engineering, where improvements in build speed, deploy safety, and test reliability scale across thousands of engineers. This is high-leverage systems work with a high bar for reliability and security.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate core developer infrastructure services across CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and test infrastructure.

Improve key engineering productivity metrics, including build and CI time, deploy speed and safety, and test feedback quality.

• Own services end to end, including architecture, observability, SLOs, and on-call operations.

Partner with engineering teams across Coinbase to understand pain points and turn them into platform improvements.

• Lead technical design for cross-cutting projects and drive them through production.

Mentor engineers and help shape the technical direction of the platform.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years building and operating production software, with strong distributed systems fundamentals and proficiency in Go or a similar language.
• Track record of shipping high-impact backend or platform systems with ownership from design through production.
• Strong operational instincts with a focus on reliability, security, and observability.
• Clear communication and the ability to drive projects independently while collaborating across teams.
• Customer-focused mindset, with success measured by impact on other engineers.
• Experience in developer infrastructure or platform domains such as CI/CD, build systems, release tooling, test infrastructure, or developer productivity.
• Experience operating at scale with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and containers.
• Depth in areas such as build systems, remote execution, progressive delivery, or test optimization.
• Experience with observability and performance tooling such as Datadog.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):

$186,065—$218,900 USD
