The mission for the Data Solutions team is to manage and support all data for LabCorp genetics, including patient, analytics, financial, and other information. We ingest data at scale, model new data, manage security and authorization, and work closely with stakeholders to provide data for internal and external customers. The platform provides capabilities to build robust data pipelines, enable stakeholder self-service, manage authorization, and provide data to internal and external users.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance the database and software systems in the Data Solutions ecosystem.
  • Lead individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables aligned with the Data Solutions team’s roadmap.
  • Work closely with data scientists, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure that the database and applications functionality meets user needs.
  • Architect and implement new features and improve components to enhance robustness, increase performance, implement strong security, and enable stakeholder self-service to rapidly access data.
  • Identify foundational work that supports cross-team efforts, workflow improvements, and new technologies with potential impact, paying down technical debt.
  • Participate in the Data Solutions team on-call rotation to provide production support for critical operations, ensuring test order turnaround times remain unaffected.
  • Help level up the team through mentorship and training on design techniques, coding standards, and engineering excellence.
  • Provide insightful feedback on code reviews for all applications owned by the Data Solutions team.
  • Raise the technical bar for building complex, scalable, and reliable systems.
Minimum Education And Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in high-performance data warehousing and analytics in life sciences, pharma/biotech, or high-tech industries with aptitude for scalable and resilient data platforms and pipelines.
  • Desire to make an impact in the genetic testing industry.
Skills And Competencies
  • Demonstrated excellence across technical stacks from infrastructure to application code with strong database experience. We use AWS, Snowflake, SQL, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, and Scala, with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and New Relic as observability and monitoring tools.
  • Deep technical expertise and a passion for high-performing database applications, data models, data catalog, governance, and security.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT systems for reliable, high-quality data ingestion and transformation.
  • Experience with dbt or related systems to transform data using SQL.
  • Pipelines using FiveTran or related tools.
  • Streaming data capture experience with Debezium or related tools.
  • Experience with data orchestration using Argo/Airflow or similar tools.
  • Strong background in AWS infrastructure.
  • Ability to enable stakeholder self-service, define data models, and provide data timely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to design and deliver complex features in high-quality code; break down large projects into clear stages.
  • Ability to explain how engineering design relates to company priorities and outcomes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, especially across distributed teams; ability to articulate capabilities and limitations to stakeholders.
  • Experience with on-call and production support for business-critical applications.
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge about latest technologies and trends with teammates.

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits and Eligibility

LBP Eligible Position: The position is eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses depend on corporate and/or business unit performance and individual performance modifiers.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20+ hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), PTO or FTO, Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan). Part-time employees may participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
