Job summary

Quora, a remote-first company, is hiring a Security Engineer to protect Quora and Poe products. The role supports cloud infrastructure security, automation, Linux/xSecurity, and product security. You will partner with engineering to model threats, build tooling, and advance secure practices across AWS and Kubernetes.

You will be part of a small, learning-focused team that values experimentation and scalable solutions, with eligibility for remote work across the US and Canada.

Qualifications

• Experience securing large cloud environments, especially AWS.
• Ability to implement security as code and integrate into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of secure development practices and threat modeling.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and securing web apps/APIs (nice-to-have).

Responsibilities

• Review cloud and compute architecture design changes with engineering teams.
• Establish threat models for cloud and compute paved roads to identify risks.
• Develop or adopt tools to monitor and harden cloud infrastructure and OS.
• Harden AWS and Kubernetes practices to inform remediations and roadmaps.
• Define and implement security policies; monitor conformance.
• Write automations to support threat detection, containment, and access management.
• Participate in incident triage and response processes.
