Job summary

D-Fend Solutions in the United States is seeking a Lead Technical Anchor to drive the design and implementation of a massive multi-tenant SaaS distributed ecosystem for real-time drone threat intelligence. You will partner with the Principal Architect and lead by example, shaping the platform across Cloud, On-Prem, and Edge.

The role demands hands-on mastery of Node.js/TypeScript, Kubernetes, Docker, and event-driven architectures, plus ownership of the full software lifecycle from development

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Computer Science from a leading university or elite military tech unit alumnus.
• 7 years total software engineering with at least 5 years backend distributed systems.
• Hands-on with Node.js and TypeScript, strong command of the JS event loop.
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Express, and NestJS.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Principal Architect to translate architectural vision into production reality.
• Design and implement high-throughput distributed systems across Cloud, On-Prem, and Edge layers.
• Write scalable, maintainable code using Node.js, Express, and NestJS.

The Role:

We are building a brand-new Platform group and have already recruited a strong foundational team. We are now looking for a Lead Technical Anchor to act as a Key Technical Partner to the Principal Architect. You will be one of the main players in the group, acting as the primary driving force to ideate, design, implement, maintain, and monitor a massive multi-tenant SaaS distributed ecosystem and inference platform. This mission-critical platform operates across three tiers:

1. Cloud (Worldwide SaaS)

2. On-Premise (Gateways / MSC2)

3. Edge Device Sensors (SDR / IoT tactical devices)

We need a heavyweight engineer with the battle scars of planning and designing distributed systems from scratch, but who is still “hot on code” and loves being deeply hands-on. We operate with a strict “You Build It, You Run It” culture.

What You Will Do

• Key Technical Partner: Work in close partnership with the Principal and Software Architect to translate high-level architectural vision into production reality.

• Architect Distributed Systems: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of highly complex, high-throughput distributed systems from the ground up, ensuring seamless data ingestion and inference across Edge, On-Prem, and Cloud layers.

• Lead by Example in Code: Write extremely sharp, scalable, and maintainable code. You will set the engineering standards for the rest of the team using Node.js, Express, and NestJS.

• End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of the software lifecycle—architectural design and backend coding to automated deployment and production monitoring—ensure the high availability and observability of our multi-tenant SaaS environment.

• Backend & Infrastructure Focus: Design and implement high-performance backend tasks, robust infrastructure, and high-throughput Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers utilizing both REST and gRPC protocols to process real-time sensor data and telemetry.

Requirements

• Background: B.Sc. in Computer Science (from a leading university) OR Alumnus of an elite military technology unit.

• Experience Level: 7 years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years of hardcore backend development focusing on distributed systems.

• Expert Coder: You are still deeply hands-on and “hot on code”.

• Core Backend Stack: Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (JS) and TypeScript (TS). Deep, authoritative expertise in Node.js, Express, and NestJS, alongside a profound understanding of the JS Event Loop and asynchronous programming.

• Distributed Systems: Proven, battle-tested experience planning, designing, and implementing complex, high-throughput distributed systems from scratch.

• Cloud Native: 5 years across on of AWS, Azure, or GCP with a focus on managed services (Serverless, EKS/AKS/GKE, auto-scaling).

• Architecture: Proven experience with Event-Driven Design (one of Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Stream) and Microservices.

• State Management: High-speed in‑memory state (Redis) and relational data stores (PostgreSQL).

• SaaS & Security: Expertise in secure, multi‑tenant SaaS, ideally with knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and mTLS.

• Containers: Hands‑on experience with Docker and basic Kubernetes.

• Frontend Willingness: Practical experience with React and a strong willingness to touch client‑side code when necessary to deliver end‑to‑end features.

Big Advantages

• Infrastructure as Code: Deep expertise treating infrastructure as software using Serverless Framework, Terraform, AWS CDK.

• AI Tooling: Experience enriching and optimizing development using dev‑assisting GenAI tools (such as Cursor, CoPilot, or ClaudeCode).

• Data Scale: Experience with time-series telemetry pipelines and long‑term storage tiering.

• Observability: Experience implementing observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).

• Additional Tech: Python 3.6 experience and multi‑process/threaded application knowledge.
