Job summary

Box is seeking a software engineer to advance the caching layer that powers our platform. You will help design next-gen caching architectures and tackle scale, performance, and reliability across the data tier serving tens of millions of requests per second.

You will collaborate with engineering teams to understand requirements, drive architectural improvements, and ensure production services meet business needs. This role also involves on-call responsibilities to maintain service health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of JVM-based languages (Java/Scala).
• Strong grasp of high-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Box's caching architecture and migrate Memcached/Redis fleets to next-gen solutions.
• Address scale, performance, and resilience of the data tier serving millions of requests/sec.
• Collaborate with client teams to understand traffic patterns and advise on caching strategies.
• Deliver production excellence and improve reliability of critical services.
• Participate in design/architecture discussions to guide technical direction.
• Engage in on-call rotation to respond to incidents and triage issues.
