Job summary

Chabez Tech in Dahlgren, VA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-assurance C code for safety-critical missile and weapon system applications running on VxWorks RTOS. You will work on real-time embedded systems, SMP, and multi-core architectures, perform integration and V&V, and collaborate with defense engineering teams while maintaining documentation and compliance with stringent requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience developing in C for safety-critical missile and weapon system applications.
• Strong understanding of real-time embedded principles, SMP, and multi-core architectures.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware-software integration, lead verification and validation activities.

Compensation

$150,000 -- $200,000 Base Salary (Competitive Market Range Full Corporate Benefits)

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, write, and maintain efficient C code for safety-critical missile and weapon system applications.
• Real-Time Systems: Develop and support applications running on VxWorks real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Integration & Testing: Perform hardware-software integration for missile simulators and test equipment; lead verification and validation (V&V) activities.
• Collaboration: Work within multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure compliance with stringent defense and safety requirements.
• Technical Artifacts: Maintain rigorous technical documentation and software development artifacts throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Skills: Extensive software development experience using C and VxWorks RTOS.
• Embedded Knowledge: Understanding of real-time embedded principles, SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processing), and multi-core architectures.
• Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is strictly required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) or Anti-Air Warfare (AAW) systems.
• Familiarity with missile flight test programs, telemetry formats, and weapon system test equipment.
• Previous experience in Defense, Aerospace, or Naval systems programs.
