Job summary

SaidGig is seeking a backend-focused engineer to build scalable services powering large-scale web and mobile experiences. You will collaborate with Engineering, UX, Product, Business, and Analytics teams to deploy features rapidly and learn from experimentation and customer feedback.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust services, building REST and GraphQL APIs, and advancing AI capabilities within production systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems at a high-scale organization (or a CS degree + 3 years).
• Production backend coding with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Rust experience in production services or performance-critical modules.
• Knowledge of semantics, cookies, headers, caching, sessions, and service-to-service communication.
• Experience building or operating high-traffic consumer web platforms.
• GraphQL with Node.js, including schema design and resolvers (preferred).
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards (preferred).
• Ability to explain complex concepts and collaborate with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience building production systems at a recognized high-scale organization, or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field plus at least 3 years of experience.
• Production backend coding experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Rust experience in production services, performance-critical modules, or substantial systems work.
• Strong knowledge of semantics, cookies, headers, caching, sessions, and service-to-service communication patterns, including authentication, timeouts, and retries.
• Experience building or operating high-traffic, consumer-facing web platforms.
• GraphQL with Node.js, including schema design, resolvers, and federation, is preferred.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards is preferred.
• A demonstrated progression into senior-level ownership, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.

Work Terms

United States-based, hourly W-2 employment. Full-time weekday availability of at least 40 hours per week is required. You will work within an enterprise client’s engineering organization as part of its extended workforce. The employer provides payroll, benefits, and compliance support.

Compensation

$50 to $80 per hour
