NewsBreak is hiring for a hands‑on backend architect in Mountain View to lead a major architecture upgrade. You will design clean interfaces, improve observability, and ensure safe deployment on high‑QPS services that power our recommendation serving at scale.
You will own reliability, build scalable backend systems, and collaborate with AI/ML teams to deliver product initiatives while maintaining safety and rollback controls. Strong Java and Kubernetes expertise are required.

We're now upgrading our backend architecture to be AI-native: systems designed so that agents, tooling, and engineers can all operate them safely. This is a hands‑on engineering role - you'll modernize live, high‑traffic services behind NewsBreak's recommendation serving at scale, with a dual mandate: roughly half your time advances the architecture, half ships business impact.
