Job summary

Agilent Technologies is seeking a senior backend engineer to architect, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using NodeJS. You will design NoSQL databases and search indexes to support end-to-end API flows and mentor peers while delivering features that drive revenue growth.

The role requires strong Python/JavaScript skills, cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure), and expertise with DynamoDB/OpenSearch/GraphDB. This is a hybrid role with collaboration across a global team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of API development experience.
• Expert programming skills in Python, JavaScript, NodeJS.
• Experience with public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with relational or NoSQL DBs (DynamoDB) and search technologies (OpenSearch).
• Able to learn new backend technologies as needed.
• Familiar with API standards and frameworks.
• Mentor engineers and influence decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.

• 8+ years of experience in API development.

• Expert Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, NodeJS,

• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• Experience in relational or noSQL DB such as Dynamodb, Search technolgoes such as OpenSearch, Graph DB.

• Must be able to pick up new backend technologies as the need arises.

• Must be familiar with API standards and frameworks.

• Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs based on cost, risk, effort analysis.

• Practice in mentoring other engineers and influencing decision makers throughout the organization

• Consideration of customer impact when making technical decisions

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd

• Substantial experience with AI/LLM driven use cases

• Experience in Code AI tools to gain productivity in coding. Eg. Copilot, Windsurf etc

• Good problem-solving skills

• Ability to work in a distributed team environment.

• Good written and spoken communications skills are crucial
