Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Sunnyvale, CA office. This full-time, on-site role focuses on designing scalable distributed systems and maintaining high-quality code across multiple languages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field plus 3 years of software engineering experience.
  • Alternative: 5 years of software engineering experience in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and classify requirements to align with objectives and estimate scope.
  • Design scalable software solutions and translate designs into modules.
  • Develop maintainable, secure code across multiple platforms and languages.
  • Create and execute test cases, analyze defects, and support regression testing.

About the team:
Our team develops and maintains robust distributed systems that support Walmart’s eCommerce and supply chain operations by efficiently processing high transaction volumes. We focus on capturing and analyzing transaction data from multiple sources to promptly identify and resolve potential disruptions. Emphasizing scalable platform design, iterative development, and continuous delivery, we ensure real-time, accurate information for clients. Collaboration and technical expertise drive our efforts to build reliable solutions that enhance operational performance and customer experience across Walmart’s digital ecosystem. The team prioritizes innovation, quality, and responsiveness in delivering impactful software solutions.
What you’ll do:

  • Analyzeandclassifyrequirementstoalignwithbusinessandtechnicalobjectives,ensuringcomprehensivescopingandestimation.
  • Designscalablesoftwaresolutionsbyevaluatingtrade-offsandconvertinghigh-leveldesignsintodetailedfunctionalmodules.
  • Developmaintainable,testablecodeadheringtocodingstandardsandsecuritypoliciesacrossmultipleplatformsandlanguages.
  • Createandexecutetestcasestoidentifydefects,performrootcauseanalysis,andsupportregressiontesting.
  • Monitorapplicationperformanceandtroubleshootissuestomaintainhighavailabilityandscalability.
  • Collaboratewithstakeholderstodeliversolutionsthatmeetcustomerandbusinessneedswhilesupportingcontinuousimprovementinitiatives.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strongproficiencyinobject-orientedprogrammingandcodingstandardsusinglanguagessuchasJavaScript,Python,orC.
  • Experiencewithcontinuousintegrationandcontinuousdelivery(CI/CD)pipelines,automationscripting,andtelemetryimplementation.
  • Abilitytoanalyzeandtranslatebusinessrequirementsintodetailedtechnicaldesignsanduserstories.
  • Skilledincodereview,debugging,defectmanagement,andensuringhigh-quality,maintainablecode.
  • Familiaritywithtestingmethodologies,tools,anddefectlifecycleprocesses.
  • Demonstratedproblem-solvingskillsandcommitmenttodeliveringsecure,high-availabilitysoftwaresolutions.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
