Job summary

DRS RADA Technologies in Germantown, MD is hiring a Senior Software Engineer-Applied AI. This on-site, full-time role builds tools and services that bring AI/ML into software workflows, shipping LLM integrations on a Linux platform with Python, Rust, and TypeScript.

You will mentor engineers, shape design standards, and own production quality from prototype to deployment while collaborating with domain experts across backend, platform, and UI teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python proficiency and Linux environment experience.
• Experience building backend services, automation, or APIs with AI/ML features.
• Familiar with modern engineering practices: version control, testing, debugging, code review.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal tools, backend services, and automation workflows in Python on Linux.
• Develop AI/ML-enabled features: document search, summarization, extraction, and retrieval-based workflows.
• Integrate LLMs, APIs, and services; define interfaces across Python, Rust, and TypeScript.
• Support ML lifecycle tasks with leads and domain experts; data preparation and model integration.
• Write production-grade code, own deployment, logging, and documentation; mentor engineers.
