Macmillan Learning is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack / Applications) to design, build, and operate production-grade, cloud-native applications with AI at their core. You will work at the intersection of strong software engineering and deep AI expertise, delivering robust, scalable user-facing products.

You’ll own AI-powered features end-to-end, collaborate across disciplines, and help advance modern AI capabilities in publishing while contributing to PoC, MVP, and long-term

Qualifications

• Experience shipping AI-powered features end-to-end.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals across stack.
• Production-grade CI/CD, observability and IaC practices.

Responsibilities

• Own AI-powered features end-to-end from scoping to production.
• Design and maintain cloud-native AI apps across full stack.
• Evaluate and optimize AI models for production use.
• Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Build robust AI inference, evaluation, and monitoring pipelines.
• Develop automated AI evaluation frameworks.
• Analyze performance data to drive improvements.
• Operate and improve production systems and reduce debt.
• Stay current with AI advancements and upskill the team.
• Plan, track and break down work in an agile team.
• Provide technical leadership, drive design reviews and ADRs.
• Participate in on-call rotations and define SLOs.
