Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the AIR team in Platforms and Devices to advance SWE agents and AI capabilities. You will collaborate with Researchers and Product teams across Alphabet, work in startup mode, and address developer pain points with rapid experiments to improve agent quality.

Location includes Mountain View or New York; in-person interviews preferred. Required: 5 years Python; 3 years testing/architecture; GenAI or related concepts; ML infra experience;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in Python.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • 1 year of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Researchers and Product teams across Alphabet to build emerging AI capabilities and technologies for SWE Agents.
  • Work in startup mode.
  • Identify developer pain points and develop novel user experiences to address issues. Ideate quickly and run experiments to improve agent quality.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional/cross-product area partners to plan and prioritize projects.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Partner closely with Researchers and Product teams across Alphabet (DeepMind, Core, P&D teams) to build emerging AI capabilities and technologies for SWE Agents. Strong collaboration skills are a must!
  • Work in startup mode.
  • Identify developer pain points and develop novel user experiences to address issues. Ideate quickly and run experiments to improve agent quality. Collaborate closely with cross-functional/cross-product area (XFN/X-PA) partners to plan and prioritize projects.
