Job summary

Xealth, LLC. in the United States is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and scale services powering EHR integrations and clinical workflows. You will apply CS fundamentals to distributed systems, data modeling, and API design.

Work with product managers and EHR specialists to translate clinical workflows into scalable software solutions. This role emphasizes security, data quality, and AI-enabled product development within a healthcare context.

Qualifications

  • Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, distributed systems.
  • Experience designing and building RESTful or event-driven APIs; healthcare APIs a plus.
  • Experience building scalable distributed systems using modern languages.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and clinical data standards is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement EHR integration services using HL7 v2, FHIR, and EHR APIs.
  • Ensure data quality, validation, monitoring, and HIPAA-compliant security.
  • Develop AI-enabled healthcare products to improve care quality and delivery.

What You'll Own and Deliver (Responsibilities)

As a core member of our software engineering team, you will design, build, and scale the services that power Xealth’s EHR integrations and clinical workflows. You’ll apply solid computer science fundamentals to solve complex problems in distributed systems, data modeling, and API design.

  • EHR Integration Engineering: Architect and implement integration services leveraging HL7 v2, FHIR, and EHR-specific APIs. Move beyond simple data exchange to design scalable abstraction layers and reusable modules.
  • Data Quality and Security: Implement rigorous validation, monitoring, and observability to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and HIPAA-compliant security.
  • Develop Products with AI: Use AI to design, build and maintain products to increase quality and accelerate delivery.
  • Build AI Enabled Products: Build AI-enabled healthcare products improve quality of care and patients experiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers and EHR specialists to translate clinical workflows into elegant, scalable software solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Contribute to code reviews, system design discussions, and technical decisions that raise the engineering bar across the team.
The Expertise You'll Bring (Requirements)

We’re looking for a software engineer with strong computer science fundamentals — someone who’s comfortable reasoning about systems, data, and code structure at scale, and who’s excited to apply those skills in healthcare.

Core Technical Competencies
  • Communication, Collaboration and Agility: Comfortable working in an agile startup environment, balancing quality with rapid iteration with exceptional communication. Must be an exceptional communicator and problem solver.
  • CS Fundamentals: Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, concurrency, and distributed systems.
  • Software Engineering Expertise: Professional experiences building critical and highly scalable distributed systems using modern programming languages.
  • API and Integration Development: Hands-on experience designing and building RESTful or event-driven APIs; exposure to healthcare APIs such as FHIR, HL7 v2, or Epic Interconnect is a plus.
  • Distributed Systems Experience: Experience designing and scaling microservices or cloud-native applications using AWS, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and Debugging: Proficient in diagnosing complex issues across distributed services using logs, traces, and performance metrics.
Highly Valued Experience (Nice to Have)
  • Familiarity with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) and clinical data standards.
  • Typescript, NodeJS and AWS experiences.
  • Experience implementing secure OAuth2.0/SMART on FHIR authentication flows.
  • Previous experience in healthcare with familiarity with patient identity management and clinical data modeling.
  • Experiences using AI to develop products as well as building AI-native products.

Compensation and Benefits:

Xealth offers a multi-tiered approach when constructing a highly competitive compensation package. The compensation package would include a base salary, bonus, and a comprehensive suite of benefits. The base salary compensation range for this position is $155,000 - $180,000, depending on geographic market.
