Prompt.io is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the technology powering our platform. You’ll own complex technical work, influence architecture, and partner with Product to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

We value hands-on engineers with strong Java and API/microservices experience who can take problems from concept to production in a fully remote team across the United States and Canada. Compensation is competitive with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• Significant experience building and maintaining production SaaS or web applications.
• Strong experience with Java and modern server-side application development.
• Experience designing and working with APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data-intensive apps.
• Experience developing and operating applications in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of architecture, design, testing, performance, scalability, security, and data protection.
• Experience with Git and modern development practices.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently and communicate decisions clearly.
• Strong communication and collaboration in a fully remote team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Prompt.io™ is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the technology that powers our platform. You’ll take ownership of complex technical work, contribute to architecture and technical decisions, and partner closely with Product to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.We’re looking for an experienced engineer with strong technical judgment who can take a problem from concept through production, navigate complex systems, and help raise the quality of the engineering team. You’ll have meaningful influence over how we build while remaining hands‑on in the code.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable applications, services, and APIs.
• Own complex technical projects from design and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Contribute to the architecture and technical direction of our SaaS platform.
• Collaborate with Product to translate business and product needs into effective technical solutions.
• Design and build reusable services, components, and patterns that improve the broader codebase.
• Identify and address performance, scalability, reliability, and security challenges.
• Work across front-end, back-end, and service layers as needed to solve complex problems.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating Senior-level scope and impact.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Significant experience building and maintaining production SaaS or web applications.
• Strong experience with Java and modern server-side application development.
• Strong experience designing and working with APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including designing and working with data-intensive applications.
• Experience developing and operating applications in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, software design, testing, performance, scalability, security, and data protection.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across a fully remote team.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $125,000–$175,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
